Our Journey
Tazama Petroleum Products Limited (TPPL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tazama Pipelines Limited, established in 2008 to manage and operate all bulk fuel storage facilities on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Zambia.
As the government’s appointed agent for petroleum storage and distribution, TPPL plays a crucial role in ensuring reliable access to petroleum products across the country. Operating seven strategically located bulk fuel storage depots with a combined capacity of 138,414 cubic meters, we provide essential storage and distribution services to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and suppliers nationwide.

Our Journey
For over two decades, TAZAMA Pipeline Products Limited has been at the forefront of petroleum storage and distribution in Eastern Africa, continually evolving to meet the region’s growing energy needs.
1968
Tazama Pipeline Established
The Tazama Pipeline infrastructure was established to transport petroleum products from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to Ndola, Zambia.
1988
Pipeline Operations Milestone
Continued operations and expansion of pipeline services connecting Tanzania and Zambia.
2000 - 2005
Indeni Petroleum Refinery Management
The Ndola Fuel Terminal was managed by Indeni Petroleum Refinery, responsible for procuring crude oil and finished petroleum products to supplement national consumption.
2007
Government Appointment
The Zambian government appointed Tazama Pipelines Limited as its agent to oversee the procurement, refining process, and sale of petroleum products to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
2008
TPPL Incorporation
Tazama Petroleum Products Limited (TPPL) was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tazama Pipelines Limited to handle the marketing and distribution aspects of petroleum products across Zambia.

National Storage Infrastructure

2023
Pipeline Conversion
The Tazama Pipeline was converted from transporting crude oil to pumping finished petroleum products, specifically low sulfur gas oil, improving efficiency and adapting to evolving energy policies.
